JazzLab Band concert features classics and student compositions

The Cornell College JazzLab Band will present the first of two concerts this semester on the Zamora’s Café Stage in the Thomas Commons at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28. Admission is free and open to the public, and early seating is recommended.

The JazzLab band features student musicians in improvisation and composition performing charts originally recorded by jazz greats such as Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Sonny Rollins, and Wayne Shorter. The program also features original works by senior composition student and trumpet player Tray Guess.

The concert is in an intimate coffeehouse setting and Zamora’s will prepare special menu items for this performance for you to enjoy along with the great music of the band.

The final JazzLab Band concert of the school year is 7 p.m. Friday, April 3, in Zamora’s.
