Lee Epstein, a professor at the University of Southern California School of Law will give a public talk at Cornell College about the past, present, and future of the Supreme Court at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Hedges Conference Room in the Thomas Commons as part of the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar series.

Christopher Essex, a professor in the department of applied mathematics at the University of Western Ontario, will speak at Cornell College on March 21. He will talk about “When Scientific Technicalities Matter.”

Phi Beta Kappa lecture set for April 23
Lisa Pratt, a professor in the department of geological sciences at Indiana University, will spend two days at Cornell College as the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar and deliver a lecture on Friday, April 23. Her lecture, “Technical and Ethical Challenges Associated with the Search for Extraterrestrial Life,” will address the ways scientists need to proceed when presented with the possibility of life on other planets.

Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Feb. 12
Anna Tsing, professor of anthropology at the University of California-Santa Cruz, will speak at Cornell College as the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar on Thursday, Feb. 12. The lecture, “Fugues for Multi-Species Living,” is a tour through a Japanese forest examining the history of co-existing species and a future in which multiple species can thrive.
