Six courses traveled to tropical field stations in February
Fifty-seven students joined their Cornell professors for courses in the Bahamas and Belize during block 6. Cornell courses have traveled to the Gerace Research Center in the Bahamas for years, and 2013 marked the third annual trip to a field station in Latin America.

Stavreva published article
Katy Stavreva’s article, “Island Noises: Sound Imprints of the Cultural Encounters in Shakespeare’s ‘Tempest,’” was published in the collection “Cultural Encounters.” It was inspired by this year’s Senior Seminar in English, and will be presented at the European Shakespeare Research Association conference on “Shakespeare and Myth,” which will convene in June 2013 in Montpellier, France.

Global Voices at the Center for the Literary Arts
International authors Federico Falco and Alisa Ganieva will read their work at the Center for the Literary Arts at the Van Etten-Lacey House on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. The reading is part of the college’s ongoing Global Voices series.

College acquires home for Center for the Literary Arts
Cornell College has purchased a house with historic ties to its English and creative writing department that will serve as home to the newly-created Center for the Literary Arts.

Reading by Visiting Writer Anne Sanow
Anne Sanow will read from her work and take questions from the audience. Sanow is the author of the story collection “Triple Time,” winner of the 2009 Drue Heinz Literature Prize and the 2010 L. L. Winship/PEN New England Award for fiction.
