Every Cornell student wants a meaningful summer job. For George Strawn ’62, the work he got between junior and senior years led to a prominent career in computer science as well as a key role in the creation of the Internet, arguably the most significant development of the 20th century.

International student becomes international fundraiser
Zarnigar Zahra Khwaja ’09 arrived in Mount Vernon, Iowa, as a freshman from Lahore, the teeming, ancient capital of Punjab province in Pakistan with approximately 10 million people. This was her first trip to the United States. Zarnigar flourished at Cornell College, and went on to complete an M.B.A. at Harvard. Now, she does international fundraising.

Researcher and educator Dr. George Mann ’39 died July 17 at age 95.

Dr. John Koch ’50, physician and Cornell llife trustee, died on Aug. 15. He was 87.

Businessman and former trustee Charles Bray ’58 died July 10. He was 77.

Making the world a safer place
Holly Davis ’06 is Managing Director of Global Zero, connecting the international grassroots movement to the resources they need to fight effectively for a world without nuclear weapons. At Cornell she majored in sociology and child development and care systems (individualized major), then earned a master’s degree in public administration from American University in Washington, D.C., where she currently lives.

Cornell provided ‘balanced attack’
Eric Sudol ’03 is the director of Sponsorship Sales for the Dallas Cowboys. He graduated from Cornell College with a degree in economics and business, earned master’s degrees in business administration and sports administration from Ohio University, and has worked with professional sports teams, including the Cowboys and the Memphis Grizzlies, since 2005.
