103 Cornell students joined 85 athletes from Special Olympic Iowa (SOIA) for a memorable experience at Cornell’s sixth annual Unified Sports Day in the Small Multi-Sport Center.

Cornell College Relay For Life places second in the nation
Cornell College’s 2012 Relay For Life was second in the nation and first in the Midwest Division for youth events. The event raised nearly $42,000. Cornell has received an award five out of the last six years, but has not placed second in the nation since 2009.

Professor’s research indicated 65% of Cornell students plan to vote in Mount Vernon
Hans Hassell, assistant professor of politics, found that 65 percent of Cornell College students who plan to vote plan on doing so in Mount Vernon this coming November, adding between 300 to 400 votes to the town’s electorate

Trebil, Hudson among Forty Under 40 honorees
Two Cornellians were chosen by the Corridor Business Journal as Forty Under 40 award winners: Director of Civic Engagement Kara Trebil, and past Alumni Board member and Cedar Rapids attorney Mark Hudson ’99. They will be profiled in the Journal on Oct. 22.

Hitt excels in volleyball, civic leadership and pre-med studies
On the court, Kirtley Hitt ’12 helped lead her volleyball team to the Division III national tournament. She also pursued numerous volunteer and pre-med opportunities in preparation for becoming a physician assistant.
