Three new trustees elected
The Cornell College Board of Trustees has added three new members for three-year terms. The new members are Jeffery Jensen ’81, Robert Wilson ’75 and Kyle Davy ’11.

Peace Corps and Cornell
The Peace Corps celebrates its 50th anniversary this week, and while many Cornell College graduates have served, one stands out: Bill Aossey ’63. Aossey was recognized as the first Muslim to serve in the Peace Corps. He was posted to Senegal, a predominantly Muslim nation, after his graduation.

Alum named president of AFCA
Cornell College Hall of Famer Rob Ash ’73, current head coach at Montana State University, has been elected president of the American Football Coaches Association for 2011.

Isaiah McGee ’01 has been named director of the Iowa Department of Human Rights by Gov.-elect Terry Branstad.

Ron Corbett ’83 was named the most influential person in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City corridor by subscribers of the Corridor Business Journal.

Alum wins design competition
Kristin Caskey ’84, won first place in the international Peacock Standard Thai Silk Design Competition. The competition was co-sponsored by Thailand’s Queen Sirikit Institute of Sericulture and the International Textile and Apparel Association.

Memorial Service Scheduled for alumna
There will be a memorial service in Allee Chapel at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, (the Saturday of Homecoming weekend) for Helen Danforth ’42. Danforth taught and supervised student teachers at Cornell College from 1979 to 1987. You can read a complete obit at GazetteOnline.
