Russell named to board of trustees
Cornell’s newest trustee is Dr. Jean Russell ’65. Russell, of Pentwater, Mich., earned her Ph.D. in biology from Rice University in 1971 and worked at Washington University in St. Louis for more than 20 years.

NBC news features Larry Dorr ’63
On Jan. 31 “NBC Nightly News” featured Cornell trustee Dr. Larry Dorr ’63 and Operation Walk, the charity he founded, in its “Making a Difference” segment.

Alum named coach of the year
Rob Ash ’73, the head coach of the Montana State University Bobcats, was named the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year in January, honoring his success on and off the field. In 2011, Ash was named president of the American Football Coaches Association.

Alum’s show choir wins national honors
Happiness, Inc., the show choir at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was named the nation’s favorite by Parade magazine. The choir is directed by Storm Ziegler ’94.

Cornell College held an event Oct. 29 to honor the legacy of longtime coach, athletic director, teacher (along with many other positions!), Barron Bremner.

Teacher, alumna left nearly $400,000 to Cornell
A longtime elementary teacher who also taught education at Cornell has left the college nearly $400,000, half of which will go toward restoring the college’s historic King Chapel.

Cornell College’s annual Homecoming will take place Oct. 14 through 16. Events include class reunions, the homecoming game vs. Dubuque, an all-alumni dinner and the annual homecoming convocation.
