Trebil, Hudson among Forty Under 40 honorees
Two Cornellians were chosen by the Corridor Business Journal as Forty Under 40 award winners: Director of Civic Engagement Kara Trebil, and past Alumni Board member and Cedar Rapids attorney Mark Hudson ’99. They will be profiled in the Journal on Oct. 22.

The Cornell College Board of Trustees has elected two new members: Lynn Luce Kitt ’91 and Dr. Loren Hiratzka ’66.

A third Cornellian, Lucio Tolentino ’09, has won a Fulbright grant this year.

Alumnus’ company wins major grant
Welvie LLC, a surgical benefits company where Cornell trustee Ted Meads ’67 is senior vice president for sales and partial owner, won a $6.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Urheim elected to board of trustees
John Urheim ’62, retired CEO of pharmaceutical company Atrix Laboratories, has been elected to the Cornell College board of trustees.

Professor and alumnus get research grant
Marty Condon, professor of biology, will do research in Peru along with Darius Ballard ’07, as part of a National Science Foundation grant. The program places K-12 science teachers with college professors doing research to strengthen science education

Alumnus wins Pulitzer Prize
John Sullivan ’93, a reporter formerly at the Philadelphia Inquirer who now teaches at the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, was on a team that won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service reporting.

Korslund co-authors report on values-based banking
David Korslund ’76, a senior advisor at the Global Alliance for Banking on Values, has co-authored a report for the alliance that shows banks that make decisions based on values are outperforming traditional banks.

Mangold featured for community work
Maggie Karr Mangold ’03, a doctor in Vinton, Iowa, was featured in the 2011-12 University of Iowa Healthcare Annual Report.

Alumnus named scientist of the year
Tahllee Baynard ’97 was named 2012 Scientist of the Year by Black Engineer magazine. The award was presented in February and is part of the Black Engineer of the Year Awards, which honors engineers, research scientists and students. Baynard is vice president for program management of space systems at Lockheed Martin.

Alumnus’ show gets positive coverage in The New York Times
The New York Times had kind words for a play co-written and co-starred in by Joseph Curnutte ’04. The review of “Samuel & Alasdair: A Personal History of the Robot War” praises the play’s writing and calls Curnutte excellent in his role as radio host and voice actor.
