Alumna Founds Online Literary Magazine
Cornell Alumna Julia Morrison ’11, with help from staff members and contributing artists Marika von Zellen ’12 and Abbey Sturm ’11, founded the online literary magazine, The Alligator, geared at producing work from new artists, writers, and musicians. Their first issue features poetry, short fiction, photography, a comic, and an interview with a writer.

Holdcraft elected Young Trustee
Kalissa Holdcraft ’13, a politics major who will attend the University of Iowa College of Law next year, has been named the Class of 2013 Young Trustee.

DeAngeles named trustee
Steven DeAngeles ’84, a physician in Chicago, has been named to the Cornell College Board of Trustees. DeAngeles is a physician in Internal Medicine with teaching positions at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Alumnus, astronaut to speak April 2
David Hilmers ’72, a doctor and former astronaut, will be on campus to give a talk titled “Space is not the Final Frontier.”
Hilmers will talk about his experiences in the Marines, at NASA, as well as in medicine and medical missions. -
Alumnus taking position that combines journalism and academia
Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist John Sullivan ’93 will be part of a journalistic experiment that combines teaching and mentoring graduate students in journalism and investigative reporting. The position is a joint effort by American University and the Washington Post.

Janene Panfil ’89 was elected to the Cornell College Board of Trustees in February.

Kinnard wins lifetime achievement award
Graphic designer and cartoonist Rupert Kinnard ’79 won the 2013 “Standing on the Shoulders” Lifetime Achievement award from the World Arts Foundation. Kinnard was honored for his work as a graphic designer and cartoonist, as well as his advocacy for LGBT causes. The award, presented on Martin Luther King Day, notes: “Your artistic talent and leadership to reach out to the LGBT community honors the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”

Ash is Montana State’s winningest coach
Rob Ash ’73, head football coach at Montana State University, set a record for most coaching wins at the school with his team’s victory over Portland State University on Nov. 10.

Two trustees elected
The Cornell College Board of Trustees elected two members at their meeting in late October. They are: Neil Eckles ’62 and Sheryl Atkinson Stoll ’70. Taylor Koch ’12 attended her first board meeting as a young trustee.
