2026 Student Symposium takes place April 8

Cornell College’s most accomplished students are preparing to share their work on a variety of topics during the Student Symposium on Wednesday, April 8.

The Student Symposium is a much-anticipated event for students, faculty, and the community, hosted by Student Senate and the Center for Teaching and Learning. The event is free and open to the public.

Students will present their scholarly and creative works to the community in the Thomas Commons. This year’s event will feature 62 students, working with 24 faculty members across 17 departments and programs.

“The symposium is such an incredible opportunity for Cornell students to not only enhance their research and presentation skills, but it also allows them to inspire their peers and visiting community members,” said Student Senate Chair of Academic Affairs Sirius Barnett ’28. “This year, we really wanted to increase community and non-presenting student engagement in order to foster a deeply intellectual and thoughtful citizenry. Who knows what new research topics or fields can come of free and accessible conferences such as the Student Symposium.”

Students will present on a wide variety of topics, including:

  • • The Role of Aspirin in Drosophila Muscle Maintenance.
  • • Improving ADA Access in Kimmel Theatre: A Case Study.
  • • Reanalyzing Lorenzo Lotto’s “Venus and Cupid”: The New Interpretations of Fertility Talismans.
  • • Examining Changes in Iowa Public School Test Proficiency.
  • • The Implementation and Significance of Unresolved Dialogue in Mikhail Bulgakov’s “The Master and Margarita.”

The symposium takes place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m in the Thomas Commons.
