Knoop discusses economic recovery in magazine article

David Joyce Professor of Economics and Business Todd Knoop was featured in the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation magazine, In Focus.

The article, “Revise The Present,” is located on page 12 of the magazine. Knoop discusses economic recovery and how to sustain future economic growth for developing countries.

In the article, Knoop says: “What economists should encourage is for policymakers to maintain flexibility. They should encourage monetary and fiscal policy restraint during good times, and aggressive policy stimulus during difficult times. If balanced correctly, this approach would avoid a build-up of inflation and public debt, both of which threaten the economic recovery of many nations at this present time.”

According to the magazine’s website, it was launched in 2016 and gives readers insights and stories about the global economy.

Knoop, who has taught at Cornell College since 1998, studies the history of recessions and economic inequality and has written several books. His most recent book is “Bigger Pies and Just Deserts: Understanding Economic Inequality.”
