Cornell College plans MLK Week 2024 events

Join the Office of Intercultural Life (ICL) in celebrating the life, legacy, and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., starting on Martin Luther King Jr. Day Monday, Jan. 15.

All events are open to the public.

Events for MLK Week 2024:

Monday, Jan. 15 

  • MLK Vigil, Thomas Commons Lobby, 5–6 p.m.

Join ICL and the Office of Spiritual Life in commemorating the life and legacy of Dr. King. The vigil will begin in the Thomas Commons and end at Allee Chapel, led by The Rev. Melea White.

Tuesday, Jan. 16 

  • MLK Day of Service, Orange Carpet, 9 a.m.

Join the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership and the Office of Intercultural Life in commemorating the life and legacy of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a community service project. Participants will assemble hygiene kits to be donated to local shelters. This is a partnership with Clean the World. The event will end when supplies run out.

  • MLK Week: Civil Rights Walk-Through Symposium, Orange Carpet, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Join ICL in this self-directed walk-through symposium on the impact of the Civil Rights Movement and considerations for civil rights in our everyday lives. 

Thursday, Jan. 18: 

  • MLK Week: Mountain-top Mentality Affirmation Craft, Orange Carpet, 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Join ICL for a paint-and-go craft using quotes from The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to inspire your affirmations toward re-imagining community.
