Kamran interviewed about SpaceX

Cornell College Associate Professor of Engineering Niloofar Kamran shared her expertise in the article, “Here’s What’s Next for SpaceX’s Starship,” published by Wired on Nov. 21, 2023.

SpaceX launched its second test flight from Texas on Nov. 18. The rocket advanced a bit farther than the first test but blew up when it reached the edge of space.

The engineering professor was asked about the next launch of SpaceX, which requires another launch license from the FAA. She’s quoted saying, “I think the FAA will have fewer concerns this time, because there was no pad breakage and the explosion happened at a much higher altitude. I think they will give SpaceX a faster green light this time.”

The article was also shared on other media platforms.

Kamran recently wrote an article about Space tourism for the Cornell Report and has worked at Cornell College since 2017. She is interested in new technologies in the aerospace industry. Her research focuses on controlling nonlinear systems. Kamran holds a Ph.D. in engineering physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, an M.S. in aerospace engineering, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering.
