Cornell College music faculty to feature ‘Evening of Romantic Music’
The Cornell College Department of Music will present an artist faculty recital, “An Evening of Romantic Music for Piano, Clarinet, and Voice,” on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023, at 7 p.m. in Ringer Recital Studio in Armstrong Hall.
Pianist Jessica Monnier, clarinetist R. Joseph Dieker, and soprano Evelyn Rush will perform in this concert, which is free and open to the public.
Jessica Monnier will open the program with three major works for piano: Chopin’s Étude Op. 10 No. 5, “Black Keys”; Beethoven’s Sonata Op. 27 No. 1, “Quasi una fantasia”; and Liszt’s Grandes études de Paganini, S. 141 No. 3 “La Campanella.”
In the second half of the program, Dieker will join Monnier in performing Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces, Op. 73, and the program will conclude with Rush joining Monnier and Dieker in a performance of Schubert’s famous art song, “The Shepherd on the Rock.”
All three performers are artist instructors of their instruments on the Cornell College faculty.
