Gruber-Miller receives American Classical League award

Cornell College Edwin R. and Mary E. Mason Professor of Languages John Gruber-Miller has received the 2023 Merens Award from the American Classical League (ACL).

According to a press release from ACL, the award recognizes his sustained and distinguished service to the classics profession and to ACL.

In addition to his countless contributions at Cornell College, Gruber-Miller has been a leader in the field regionally and nationally. He served as vice president of ACL from 2016-2020. He has also contributed greatly to digital humanities through his leadership in Perseus Project, VROMA (A Virtual Community for Teaching and Learning Classics), the Teaching Classical Languages online journal, and the Visual Latin Reading Library.

Gruber-Miller also helped produce the revised standards for classical language learning.
