Quehl-Engel ’89 receives Leadership and Service Award

Cornell College has awarded The Rev. Dr. Catherine Quehl-Engel ’89 with the Leadership and Service Award.

The Leadership and Service Award is presented annually by the Alumni Association and the college during Homecoming Convocation. Leadership and Service Award recipients have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their careers or professions, that their work has contributed to the betterment of their community and its citizens, or that their commitment to the college has remained strong for many years.

Quehl-Engel ’89 recently retired after serving as College Chaplain for 25 years. During that time, she helped generations of Cornell students make the transition from high school to adulthood and helped prepare them to fulfill the Cornell College ideals of service to the community and to humanity. She has served as an inter-faith community leader, working with clergy of other faiths to seek harmony, peace, and love for others. In post-Cornell chaplaincy life, she continues leading retreats, meditation, sound healing, yoga, qigong, and mindfulness through Calm with Catherine, LLC. This includes as a spiritual advisor and companion for clergy and others across North America, as well as stress-reducing, mind-bodyspirit practices, and mindfulness for Cornell students and elders.
