Cornell recognized by Historic Preservation Commission
Cornell College recently received recognition for its work to preserve the historic look and feel of the campus following a painting project on Luce House.
The Mount Vernon Historic Preservation Commission presented its Historic Preservation Award to the college on Oct. 15, 2022, for “historically appropriate painting” following the project that took place during the summer of 2022.
Cornell College’s campus is listed in its entirety on the National Register of Historic Places.
“We are constantly working with the Historic Preservation Commission as we keep the past and the present in mind with each new project,” said Cornell College Construction Projects Manager Scott Ladwig. “We are grateful for this award and proud that this project turned out so well.”
The painting project updated the building, while keeping its historic look. It now features a beautiful white and grey color scheme. The building houses the Admissions Office and the Office of Marketing and Communications.
