2022 Student Symposium takes place April 9

Cornell College’s most accomplished students are preparing to share their work on a variety of topics during the Student Symposium on Saturday, April 9.

Students will present their scholarly and creative works to the community in the Thomas Commons on the Cornell College campus. This year’s event will feature 39 students, working with 21 faculty members across 14 departments and programs. 

“The Cole Library Center for Teaching and Learning looks forward to showcasing presentations, posters, and performances each year at Student Symposium,” said Jen Rouse, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning and the Consulting Librarian for the Performing Arts, Humanities, and Education. “This is a celebration of our students’ dedication and hard work, and it truly highlights their commitment to being lifelong learners.” 

Students will present on a wide variety of topics, including:

  • The Pre-Raphaelite Pandora
  • The Art of Handling Raptors
  • Design of COVID-19 Testing Strategy Implemented on Cornell’s Campus
  • Organophosphorus Medicinal Chemistry
  • The Form and Function of Political Comedy

The symposium takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Thomas Commons.

Refreshments: 9:30–10 a.m.

Poster Session 1, Orange Carpet: 10–11 a.m.

Oral Presentation Session 1: 11 a.m.–noon

Lunch and Remarks by President Jonathan Brand and Provost Ilene Crawford, Smith Dining Room: Noon–1 p.m.

Oral Presentation Session 2: 1–2 p.m.

Poster Session 2, Orange Carpet: 2–3 p.m.

 

The Student Symposium has become a much-anticipated event each year for students, faculty, and the community. The event is free and open to the public.
