Cornell College opens new Welcome Center

Cornell College has opened a new admissions welcome center in the heart of campus for students who are planning a visit and considering enrollment at the college.

It’s located on the main floor of the Thomas Commons right inside the front entrance off the circle drive.

“We’re thrilled to open this new center to welcome campus visitors,” said Vice President for Enrollment Management Wendy Beckemeyer. “The Thomas Commons really is our nerve center, and welcoming families here gives them a great first impression for what they can expect for their future at Cornell.”

Student stops at the reception desk in the new Welcome CenterThe welcome center will feature a reception area, an interactive media center, two meeting rooms with multimedia screens for admission interviews, two staff offices, and a refreshment area.

“We wanted visiting students and families to see what a student experience is like at Cornell College right at the beginning of their visit,” said Director of Admission Drew Shradel. “By hosting visits in the Commons, they might see a group dancing on the Orange Carpet, the Berry Career Institute meeting with students about future careers, The Intercultural Life Office holding an event, or simply get a better idea of how the block plan schedule unfolds on campus as students come and go.”

Student tour guides will also meet with prospective students in the Welcome Center as they embark on their tours of campus. Visitors can still park in the Luce Admission Center parking lot and will get a ride to the Thomas Commons on a golf cart when they arrive for their visit.

If you have any questions or want to explore the campus and the new welcome center, please schedule a visit that is convenient for you.
