Hilltop welcomes large class
Cornell College welcomed 404 new students this fall, our largest group of first-year and transfer students since 2003. Cornell’s total enrollment is now 1,055, with students from nearly every state and 18 countries outside the U.S.
“When we look at the quality of students coming in, this is a big year,” said Vice President of Enrollment Management Wendy Beckemeyer. “This class has a high-performing GPA, excellent test scores, increased diversity, and we’ve extended our geographic reach. This class will contribute greatly to our already outstanding student body.”
Student turnout at the first home football game was estimated at 300, a large increase over games in the recent past.
“There’s a vibrancy that happens as you increase the number of people participating in a community. We are certainly seeing that on our campus,” Beckemeyer told Iowa’s News Now, the local CBS affiliate.
