ICL plans 2021 Diversity Week activities

The Office of Intercultural Life (ICL) will be hosting a Diversity Week the first week of Block 7 with several events on a wide variety of topics. This year’s theme is Allyship, Advocacy, and Partnership.

The office says it is hoping the week’s events provide opportunities for the campus and greater community to gain edification regarding effective allyship, advocacy, and partnerships for, and from, various identities and learn how they can play a part.

Monday, March 22:

Demystifying, Decolonizing, & Destigmatizing Mental Health, ICL Facebook Live, noon–1 p.m.

Join ICL and guests Cornell Counselor Dabney Hofammann and Director of Health Promotion Marcia Sisk as they discuss mental and advocacy, allyship, and partnership in counseling and therapy.

Wednesday, March 24: 

Faces and Stories of the Latinx Community, Orange Carpet, 11 a.m. –1 p.m. and 5 –7 p.m., sponsored by Gente.

Join the members of the student group Gente to learn about the diversity and presence of the Latinx community on campus and hear some Spanish music.

Thursday, March 25:

ICL Power Hour: White Men CAN Jump!, ICL Facebook Live with Head Lacrosse Coach Lane Zierten, noon–1 p.m.

Join ICL and guest Head Lacrosse Coach Lane Zierten for an online discussion of what part he believes that he and others can play in allyship, advocacy, and partnerships. 

Friday, March 26:

For the Mind, Body, & Soul: Soul Food Cooking for Restrictive Diets

Join ICL for a video cooking demonstration of a few staple dishes from New Orleans with options for vegan, vegetarian, and flexitarian cooking. The link will be pre-recorded and posted on ICL’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
