Meet Grace Werlin, future doctor
Grace Werlin, a guard and team leader for Rams women’s basketball, is a biochemistry and molecular biology major from Georgetown, Colo. She plans to be a pediatrician or family doctor.
This campus leader is co-president of Rotaract and secretary of both the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and the Health Professions Society.
She’s also a fan of Cornell’s One Course At A Time schedule and the hands-on learning it makes possible.
“In many of my classes here at Cornell, I have been fully immersed in the lab setting,” she says. “I have gained so much hands-on experience. From day one to day 18 in a block, the amount of growth I witness in myself is unexplainable. Even in classes outside of my major, my professors work so hard to provide students with hands-on experiences.”
Her favorite course to date is Organic Chemistry Lab because she got to apply everything she learned in the Organic Chemistry Lecture courses. “We have produced crystals of all different colors and shapes and understanding the chemistry behind it is incredible!” she says.
She says she has benefited in multiple ways as a student-athlete at Cornell.
“The one that stands out most to me is the lifelong friends and mentors I have gained. Being an athlete here has blessed me with so many friendships that I will hold near to my heart for the rest of my life,” she says.
