Early voting in Small Sport Center Oct. 15

Cornell College’s Small Sport Center will be one of Linn County’s early voting locations on Thursday, Oct. 15, from noon to 6 p.m.

Students and community voters can take part in this in-person voting opportunity.

Civic Engagement Program Director Sam Hebel says election activities support Cornell’s mission to develop “the intellectual curiosity, creativity, and moral courage necessary for a lifetime of learning and engaged citizenship” in students.

“It is our goal to make the entire process, not just registering, more accessible to ensure all students can make a plan to vote,” Hebel said. “Students have the option to vote in their home community, using their home address or in their college community, using their Mount Vernon address. This is a personal choice.”

Voters may register and vote the same day at the satellite voting location if they bring proof of identity and proof of residency. Students may also register now to be prepared to vote in town on Nov. 3.

Students can find information or materials on how to register and vote using their home address, on the Cornell College website or reach out to the Civic Engagement Office. All questions can be directed to Samantha Hebel, Program Director for Civic Engagement, at shebel@cornellcollege.edu.

Cornell College does not endorse any candidate seeking elected office or any political party. The college does support critical thinking and analysis of political candidates and how to become civically engaged in the American democratic process.
