Sun writes editorial on block plan
The Mount Vernon-Lisbon Sun staff recently wrote an editorial, “Block plan again proves it’s a model to emulate.”
The piece reads:
There’s so much to recommend in Cornell’s block plan, created more than 40 years ago. The 18-day commitment gives students the chance to experiment in different disciplines or experience workflow close to post-college life.
Given the proven benefits, it’s not surprising that other schools are following Cornell’s lead.
Cornell College, a selective liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, attracts a diverse, caring community. Cornellians have been living, learning, and teaching on the block plan, One Course At A Time, for 40 years. With students from nearly 50 states and 20 foreign countries, as well as renowned faculty, speakers, and entertainers, Cornell offers the world from its campus.
