Virtual Commencement will celebrate Class of 2020 May 17
Cornell will be holding a Virtual Commencement celebration for the Class of 2020 on May 17 at 1 p.m. live on the Cornell College Facebook page.
College leadership is still making plans for an in-person ceremony once the spread of COVID-19 has stopped and it’s safe to welcome a large crowd back to campus.
The virtual event will be a nontraditional ceremony mixing live and recorded segments and an interactive chat.
“We know this has been a tough time for all of our graduating seniors, and we wish the environment were different such that we could have everyone on campus this May to celebrate their many accomplishments,” said President Jonathan Brand. “This will be a way we can start the celebration, and we’ll continue it when we can all be together again for the in-person ceremony.”
Students are asked to please submit photos and videos for inclusion in the ceremony, as well as one-line gratitudes for the litany of thanks.
Please mark your calendars for this virtual event.
