Cornell celebrates the life of MLK

The second week of Block 5 will be filled with events and gatherings on the Cornell College campus to celebrate the life and contributions of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “Dr. King’s life and legacy are not only important to the black community, but they are also important to the American society as a whole,” said Director of Intercultural Life Hemie Collier. “He, amongst others, help set the standard of what it is to be a true American citizen.” The Intercultural Life Office has teamed up with others on campus to organize events on MLK Day, Monday, Jan. 20, and throughout the week. All of the events are free and open to the Cornell community and the public. I am convinced that men hate each other because they fear each other. They fear each other because they don’t know each other, and they don’t know each other because they don’t communicate with each other, and they don’t communicate with each other because they are separated from each other.”
