CSRI research in Smithsonian Magazine

Cornell College’s ornate box turtle researchers were mentioned in an article by Smithsonian Magazine about turtle-finding dogs.

As part of Professor of Biology Andy McCollum’s ongoing research with students on the threatened turtle species, they joined John Rucker and his four Boykin spaniels, looking for turtles on a nature preserve owned by Bur Oak Land Trust in Johnson County at the end of May.

Cornell Summer Research Institute (CSRI) students Lizzy Ott ’21, Lily Ullenius ’20, and John Regis ’20 are participating in the research to identify the turtles and track the population over the years.
