Cornell College Presents ‘Ascension’
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Cornell College is proud to present “Ascension,” directed by Dance Artist-in-Residence Alvon Reed, Feb. 28–March 3 in Kimmel Theatre on the Cornell campus.
“Ascension” is an eclectic blend of ballet, contemporary modern, hip hop, jazz, tap, and musical theatre. The concert features choreography by Alvon Reed, Cornell students, and guests from the University of Iowa.
Reed, director and choreographer of “Ascension,” would like audiences to walk away from this concert having experienced the artistic, technical, and performative growth of Cornell College theatre and dance students. Reed believes in pushing students beyond their perceived limitations by providing creative opportunities in which they can thrive.
“Our students in the Department of Theatre and Dance are learning to be artistic ambassadors,” Reed said. “They are utilizing their bodies to tell stories through music, movement, and theatre.”
Audiences are sure to leave this concert feeling inspired and uplifted.
“Ascension” takes place Feb. 28, March 1 and March 2 at 7:30 p.m., and March 3 at 2 p.m. in Kimmel Theatre in Cornell College’s Youngker Hall in Mount Vernon, Iowa. Tickets for “Ascension” are $5. Tickets can be reserved by emailing boxoffice@cornellcollege.edu.
