Dutch singers Quink return to Cornell
The Dutch group Quink, ranked among the top a cappella ensembles of the world, returns on Monday, Feb. 26, for a third appearance on Cornell College’s Music Mondays series. The concert, at 7:30 p.m. in King Chapel, is free and open to the public.
Quink established their reputation as a group that captivates its audiences with expressive a cappella programs of a varied and beautiful repertoire. The group last performed on the Hilltop in 2010 and 2015. Their 2018 concert will feature selections from their recording “Music, When Soft Voices Die,” including music of Elgar, Bridge, Vaughan Williams, and others. Gramophone magazine wrote of the recording: “… the blend is that of singers who have worked together for decades: even, balanced, finding all the light and shade …”
Quink’s members are Marjon Strijk, Elsbeth Gerritsen, Harry van Berne and Kees Jan de Koning. They can be seen in a short film, “BiBaBo,” based on their premiere of the work of the same name by Dutch composer Simeon ten Holt.
