Postcard peace event held for Minnesota Islamic center

Cornell College’s Office of Chaplain & Spiritual Life is joining the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County to spread a message of peace following a bombing in Minnesota.

On Aug. 15 “Postcards for Peace” will be held at the Welcome Desk on the third floor of Cole Library on the Cornell College campus. Participants will write messages of solidarity and love for members of the Dar Al Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, which fell victim to a bombing on Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017.

This is an event for anyone in the Mount Vernon area, including Cornell students, faculty, staff, and community  members.

Participants can stop by to fill out a postcard anytime between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. The Cornell Chaplain & Spiritual Life Office will supply postage and will mail all of the postcards at the end of the event.

Cornell’s event will be held in conjunction with a postcard event organized by the Inter-Religious Council at Via Sofia’s Italian Kitchen in Cedar Rapids.

If you have questions about the campus event, please contact Cornell’s Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Catherine Quehl-Engel at 319.895.4402.
