Eric Dewey ’84
United Way executive Eric Dewey ’84 died March 31 in Nashville, Tennessee, at age 54. He was chief executive officer of United Way of Metropolitan Nashville.
A native of Pontiac, Michigan, he majored in political science at Cornell.
Prior to accepting the CEO position in Nashville in 2008, Dewey served in leadership roles for United Way in Kalamazoo, Detroit, and Jackson, Michigan; and Somerset County, New Jersey.
Throughout his over 30-year career, Dewey was active as a United Way leader at the national and international levels. He served leadership roles in United Way Worldwide (UWW), including as a member of its National Professional Council; chair of the group’s Economic Model Task Force Subcommittee; UWW Talent Task Force; and co-chair for the 2008 and 2012 United Way Global Community Leaders Conferences.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, and two sons.
