Xu ’13 receives national podiatric student award
Dixon Xu ’13 was one of just nine graduating podiatric medical students awarded the 2017 Michael L. Stone Outstanding Professional Conduct Award during the recent American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons scientific meeting.
The annual award is presented to a graduating senior from each of the nation’s podiatric medical schools. The recipients exemplify the highest standard of professionalism, deportment, and ethics in interactions with peers, patients, professors, and staff. The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery paid recipients’ registration fees and travel expenses to the annual meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, and awarded each winner $2,000.
Xu will graduate from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in May.
He recently published two first-author articles in Cancer Letters—“The role of IL-11 in immunity and cancer” and “Unveil the mysterious mask of cytokine-based immunotherapy for melanoma.”
