Strawn ’62 publishes artificial intelligence paper

George Strawn ’62 and Candace Strawn are the authors of “Masterminds of Artificial Intelligence: Marvin Minsky and Seymour Papert,” an article in the April 2017 issue of Computing Edge. The article also appeared in IT Professional.

Marvin Minsky and Seymour Papert had closely joined careers at MIT in artificial intelligence and other fields. This article highlights some of their contributions.

George Strawn is director of the Board for Research Data and Information at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. He was formerly the director of the National Coordination Office for the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development Program (NITRD), and prior to that was CIO for the National Science Foundation.

Strawn received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Iowa State University and his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from Cornell College.
