The Cornell College Department of Theatre and Dance is preparing for their inaugural dance concert, “Triggered,” premiering May 5 at Kimmel Theatre on the Cornell College campus.
Directed by Dance Artist in Residence Alvon Reed, the concert will showcase student dancers, choreographers, lighting designers, costume designers, and a student hair and makeup designer, as well as professional choreographers and dancers from the Creative Corridor and beyond. It will feature a variety of genres of dance, including theatrical jazz, hip hop, and contemporary modern.
“My goal is that ‘Triggered’ will trigger a real and emotional response from our audience and create an excitement about the future of dance at Cornell,” said Reed.
The performance will introduce the dance program to the campus-wide community and answers a growing need to provide more performance opportunities for Cornell students. “Triggered” is a unique chance for students in the dance program to showcase their skills.
“This concert will demonstrate the importance of arts related programming on campus in addition to bringing more students with interests in the visual and performing arts to our department,” said Reed. “I am also excited for the faculty, staff and students to see the results of all of the hard work and dedication these students have devoted to the development of this concert.”
The performance will run May 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimmel Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, students, and youth, and free for Cornell College faculty, staff, and students with ID. Tickets can be reserved by calling 319.895.4293 or by emailing boxoffice@cornellcollege.edu.
Kimmel Theatre is accessible through the front doors of Armstrong Hall. Parking is available in the lot behind and to the south of the theatre at the corner of College Boulevard and Summit Avenue.
