Let’s go Rams!
Ram spirit is strong as Cornell College’s winter sports programs fielded all-Americans, landed national qualifiers, crowned titlists, and beat Coe!
Wrestling
Unseeded wrestler Aaron Engle ’17 finished second at 149 pounds at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships — exactly as his twin brother Trevor did in 2016 at the same weight class. 174-pounder Michael Maksimovic ’17 also competed, finishing one win shy of all-America status. The Rams finished 20th in the team standings.
Track & Field
Cornell achieved a first when track & field athletes earned five all-America indoor performances at the NCAA Division III Championships. Abrah Masterson ’17 was the runner-up in the women’s 5000-meter run and took fourth in the 3000. Charles Zilaitis ’17 placed sixth in the men’s shot put and eighth in the weight throw. Libby Schnoor ’18 placed seventh in the pentathlon.
Basketball
The women’s team won the regular season conference championship before losing the Midwest Conference title game. Their season tied for second-most wins in program history at 20–5. The men’s team qualified for its first conference tournament berth in seven years.
