Leon Tabak, professor of computer science at Cornell College, will moderate a panel discussion on “The Future of Courtship” as part of the series “Ethical Perspectives on the News” at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12, on Channel 9.2 (See taped episode here).
Contributing to the discussion will be Cornell senior Viviana Guajardo ’17, Marion teacher Brett Dupree, and Iowa City attorney and mediator Miriam Timmer-Hackert. Guajardo is studying sociology and anthropology at Cornell. As a student and young adult, she offers an inside view of how young people are pursuing romantic options.
Tabak proposed the topic after reading articles that asserted that dating is dead. The articles contained complaints from young women who said prospective romantic partners seem little interested in planning an outing or spending time with one person with the goal of getting to know that one person.
