David Rees Evans, a Cornell College English professor from 1990-2000, has been elected to a three-year term on the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) board. Evans is president of Southern Vermont College in Bennington, Vermont.
Former Cornell President Les Garner is a past board chair of the NAICU, which has more than 1,000 member institutions and associations and serves as the unified national voice of private nonprofit higher education.
Evans has spoken nationally and internationally and written extensively on professional academic issues in the Chronicle of Higher Education and elsewhere. Evans has also presented, facilitated, and led sessions for programs sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges.
