Purpose
Cornell College, a selective liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa, seeks to engage its students and community in the 2016 presidential election process. In support of Cornell’s mission to develop in students “the intellectual curiosity, creativity, and moral courage necessary for a lifetime of learning and engaged citizenship,” the college encourages student participation in Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses and the national election. Throughout the election season, Cornell has hosted numerous candidates for the presidency of the United States and equally offers invitations to both political parties to visit Cornell.
Disclaimer
Cornell College does not endorse any candidate seeking elected office or any political party. The college does support critical thinking and analysis of political candidates and how to become civically engaged in the American democratic process.
