From dueling pianos to a Moonlight Lounge, 2016 Homecoming will feature new events to keep visitors busy all weekend long. Homecoming & Reunion Weekend takes place Oct. 21 to 23. The weekend will feature several new events including:
Friday afternoon "Cornell Connections: Student-Alumni Networking Reception" on the Orange Carpet
Friday night Moonlight Lounge—a casual cash bar where you will find all your friends
Two lunch options on Saturday: lunch in the Thomas Commons or a football tailgate at Ash Park
Affinity socials for alumni of color and LGBTQIA alumni on Saturday afternoon
Decade rooms for reunion parties in the Thomas Commons - classes ending in -1 and -6 will be honored but all are welcome
An alumni-student Saturday night social on the Orange Carpet featuring dueling pianos
Many other traditional events are returning this year such as the annual Homecoming Convocation, which starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Five alumni will be honored during the event. Robert Martin ’66 will be given the Distinguished Achievement Award, Jack Sunderlage ’61, James Haley ’71, Allan Ruter ’76, and Ben Miller ’86 will be given Leadership and Service Awards. During halftime of the football game and during the C Club Breakfast, Cornell will also recognize three Hall of Fame inductees: John Woodman '66, Christopher Heller '92, and Lynn Schneider '05. Alumni can also get back into the classroom for “Classes Without Quizzes.” Registration is required for the event, which takes place on Friday from 9-11 a.m. The Homecoming Kick-Off Dinner will unfold from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday in Smith Dining Room of the Thomas Commons. Tables will be reserved for each reunion class. A full schedule of Homecoming weekend events can be found here. Family Weekend will take place the same weekend with several events planned for families to enjoy their visits to campus. A guided tour of renovated spaces will take place from 2-3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21. and from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. Families can see the most recent renovations and how those spaces are impacting students’ experiences at Cornell. On Saturday, Oct. 22, people can attend the event called “Connect with the Prez” to learn about President Jonathan Brand’s vision for the college. A full schedule of weekend events can be found here.
