Cornell College has won a 2016 Circle of Excellence Silver Award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for the Viewbook, which is the college’s signature admission recruiting publication.
CASE said it holds the competition to recognize exceptional work in advancement services, alumni relations, communications, fundraising, and marketing at colleges, universities, independent schools, and affiliated nonprofits from all across the world.
The Cornell College Viewbook was one of more than 3,300 entries from more than 700 higher education institutions and affiliated organizations. Cornell’s marketing team’s work was recognized in the Student Recruitment Publications category.
According to the judge’s report, “The Viewbook conveys the Cornell College educational experience in a single, engaging publication. As applicants open their admittance packet, they find this beautiful piece that tells the story of Cornell, its distinctiveness, its quality, and its tradition. This piece stands out from other publications with its high quality content.”
The Viewbook folds out into a three-dimensional block, allowing students to interact with it as they read the content.
College staff responsible for the publication include Allan Recalde, creative director; Summer Gaasedelen, writer and project manager; Sharon Grice, admissions operations; Dee Ann Rexroat, director of marketing; Jen Visser, senior director of marketing and interactive media; and Colleen Murphy, vice president of enrollment.
In 2015, the Viewbook received a bronze award in the international 2015 Circle of Excellence Awards from CASE.
