Counselor event, Cornell style

Forty counselors traveled to Mount Vernon earlier this month to learn more about Cornell. The kickoff for the event was appetizers, drinks, and dinner at One Mission Fundraising, catered by Bon Appétit, Cornell’s dining services provider. The counselors sampled different desserts at Fuel, Palisades Café, and Scarlet Boutique. They explored Uptown Mount Vernon as they moved between locations.

While the counselors were in town to learn about Cornell, it made sense to show off Mount Vernon, said Colleen Murphy, vice president for enrollment and dean of admission.

“Cornell College wouldn’t be the same without Mount Vernon,” she said, “and we love being part of the town. We wanted to make sure that the counselors got the full experience during their short stay, and that definitely includes exploring the restaurants and shops of Mount Vernon.”

While in town the counselors also had breakfast with Cornell President Jonathan Brand at the Garner President’s House, visited classes, toured campus, and heard from faculty and students about Cornell’s One Course At A Time curriculum.
