Degree programs that tackle real-world problems

This fall Cornell launched two programs: engineering sciences and a business major with tracks in finance, analytics, and actuarial science.

From big data and big business to non-profits and start-ups that tackle environmental and social justice issues, taking a role in business management can mean affecting significant change in our world. All Cornell business majors complete a common set of core courses in economics (macro and micro), accounting, and statistics. From there they choose one of the three concentrations: finance, business analytics, or actuarial science. We continue to offer a major in economics and business, which provides a deeper foundation in social science integrated with business.

Engineers are improving our technology, building efficiencies into everyday life,  creating buildings that deal with climate change, and modernizing our infrastructures to lead us into the future. Our engineering sciences program provides a strong foundation in engineering principles while also offering a small school, liberal arts experience and our One Course At A Time curriculum. Engineering sciences students tackle solutions to engineering challenges beginning with their first engineering course.
