Korpanty is a sedimentologist working on the ship. On Tuesday she will give students, including those in a class on climate change, a tour of her lab, as well as the rest of the vessel. Korpanty is part of a team analyzing core samples taken from the floor of the Indian Ocean. The goal of the expedition is to create a record of the changes in the Idonesian Throughflow, which moves warm water from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean and has a major impact on global climate.
