West directing show at Old Creamery

Cornell College Theatre professor Janeve West is directing “Waiting for the Parade” at the Old Creamery Theatre in Middle Amana, Iowa. The show runs Aug. 20 through Sept. 6.

West’s work continues a longstanding collaboration between Cornell College and Old Creamery. Several students had roles in a production of “The Matchmaker” this spring.

“Waiting for the Parade” is about the struggles of five women in Calgary, Alberta, and their struggles as they wait for family members to return from fighting in World War II. The theatre writes about the show: “‘Waiting for the Parade’ offers a rare glimpse into the effects of war on those left behind. Mirroring the spectrum of emotions that soldiers would likely possess, each woman feels differently about the war, whether it is pride, worry, or loneliness—each woman must combat adversity, crisis, and pain.”

West has taught at Cornell College since 2012. She teaches courses on theatre history, devised theatre, and directing, and has directed numerous performances on campus. She is an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.

The show runs Thursdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. on the studio stage. Tickets are available online or by calling (319) 622-6262.
