Iowa Private College Week Aug. 3-7

Cornell College will be hosting tours twice daily during Iowa Private College Week, Aug. 3-7. Facebook_Post_artThe interactive tours are designed to help students better understand both Cornell College and its One Course At A Time curriculum, in which students take one course for a three-and-a-half week block, have four days off, and then start a new course. Students will be offered tours of campus and panel discussions with faculty and students  describing Cornell using their own experiences. Cornell’s One Course curriculum takes a distinctive approach to the liberal arts, providing education at the speed of life. It allows you to learn the same way you live and work, with no slow intros, far-off exams or papers, or gaps between class sessions. This approach mirrors the pace of working environments and allows courses to go off campus for a day or an entire block. Students dive in, focus intensely, and learn authentically in every course they take. "Iowa Private College Week is a great chance for students to explore everything Cornell College has to offer," said Colleen Murphy, vice president for enrollment and dean of admission. "From our One Course At A Time curriculum, to our beautifully renovated Thomas Commons and residence halls, to our dedicated faculty, we're excited to show off Cornell to so many great Iowa students." Iowa Private College Week highlights the opportunities available at the state's 25 private colleges and universities. The week comes just after the news that the Iowa Tuition Grant, which provides assistance for Iowa residents attending private colleges and universities, has been increased to a maximum of $5,300 per year. More than 14,000 Iowa students got an Iowa Tuition Grant last year, and collectively, Iowa's private colleges and universities offer nearly $450 million in financial aid to students. Registration for the tours is available on the Cornell College website.
