Hassell featured by 2 TV stations
Cornell College politics professor Hans Hassell was featured by two Cedar Rapids TV stations in stories about the Democratic primary contest between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders and in a story on the increasing polarization of voters.
Hassell was featured on KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids in a story about how former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seems to be losing ground to Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. He was also quoted by KGAN-CBS2 in a piece about how support for Sanders seems to be surging.
In both, Hassell argues that Clinton remains the favorite to win the Democratic nomination because of the support she received early from Democratic Party insiders, and that Sanders has become the alternative to her, but is likely too far left to win the nomination.
Hassell was also interviewed by KGAN about the increasing polarization of voters. He noted that while voters affiliated with the Republican and Democratic parties have become more entrenched, candidates who cater only to their party risk alienating independent voters, which are the key to winning elections in the United States.
