Three earn Gilman scholarships

Three Cornell College students, Yesenia Hernandez, Jeannene Clark, and Hana Martin earned Gilman Scholarships that allowed them to spend a semester studying off campus.

Hana Martin took this nighttime image of the Fuente de las Batallas in Granada, Spain, while she spent a semester studying in the city, which was funded by a Gillman Scholarship.

Hernandez spent the fall taking part in the School for International Training’s International Honors Program in Human Rights. She traveled to New York, Chile, Jordan, and Nepal to study comparative human rights issues.

“I’m grateful and excited to be a recipient of this scholarship,” Hernandez said.

Clark went to Amman, Jordan, with the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Arabic Language studies program. She spent the fall learning Arabic while immersed in Jordanian culture.

“I am amazed, humbled, and relieved to have been given the additional funds for my study abroad program,” Clark said.

Martin spent the fall in Granda, Spain through Central College Abroad.

Another Cornell student, Erinn Voas, spent her junior year in Amman, Jordan, thanks in large part to a Boren Scholarship.
