Reed, an alumna of the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute 2014,  will provide strategic instruction and on-site support to those attending the immersive residential leadership program, which takes place on the University of Denver campus, June 15- 27, 2015.

Considered one of the premier leadership development organizations for women in higher education, the HERS Institutes are committed to transforming academia by creating and sustaining a community of women leaders by focusing on mentorship, gender equity, and inclusion on today’s campuses. The HERS Institutes are offered at three locations—Wellesley College, University of Denver, and Bryn Mawr College—and in two residential formats.

“I’m very excited that Dr. Reed has accepted the position of associate director and faculty-in-residence at the HERS Denver Summer Institute 2015,” said Elizabeth Suárez, Director of the HERS Denver Summer Institute. “Dr. Reed’s engagement level while attending HERS Bryn Mawr 2014 provided a positive atmosphere for her colleagues and faculty members. She will be magnificent at providing this year’s participants with a powerful environment where they can learn and grow as leaders.”

A recipient of the Mayers Fellowship from the Huntington Library, Reed specializes in Restoration and 18th century English literature, with a special focus on colonial literature. She has been at Cornell College since 2003 and earned her doctorate from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.

“For me, the HERS Institute was transformative,” Reed said. “The women I met and worked with at HERS were amazing and inspirational; in the short, intense two-week institute, they helped me develop a sense of clarity and purpose that I had not felt for a long time. I’m looking forward to being part of that transformation for another cohort of impressive women.”
