Alumna wins music award
Kelly Montijo Fink ’92 won a Native American Music Award for Best Compilation Album at the 15th Annual Native American Music Awards.
The “NAMMY,” was for her album, “Don’t Let Me Forget,” which contains a variety of genres including pop, rock, dance, hip-hop, rap, industrial-traditional, and Celtic styling. Montijo Fink, who lives in Hiawatha, Iowa, also featured local artists Josh Misener, Sean Murphy, Shane Lunsford, and Chris Stanton. In addition to recording music, Montijo Fink has served as a visiting instructor of Spanish at Cornell College, her alma mater.
The Native American Music Awards was founded in 1998 by President / CEO Ellen Bello and is the music industry’s only national organization for the advancement and recognition of Native American musical expressions.
