Students featured in story about young voters
Two Cornell College students, seniors Thomas Cooke and Trevor Hazen, were featured on KCRG-TV9 in a story about the importance of the youth vote in the upcoming midterm elections.
Cooke, president of the College Republicans, and Hazen, president of the College Democrats (the pair are housemates, how’s that for bipartisanship?) spoke to a reporter about the importance of getting young people involved in the electoral process, the impact the 18-29 demographic could have if more young people voted, and the issues important to Millennial
Though the pair hold opposing political views, they share a passion for the electoral process and a dedication to getting Cornell College students registered to vote. Earlier this month, members from the College Democrats and College Republicans canvassed campus to help register students and also hosted a Rock the Vote event that included early voting and brought several candidates and a number of advocacy groups to speak to students.
